The usual hand-wringy article but with one nice element: a mention of a book called a "Transition Handbook"" that is described as "a startlingly cheerful book that gives some idea as to how transition initiatives work - from the very early stages, in which groups raise awareness through film screenings and talks, to the later development of local food networks and even the launch of local currencies."
That would be a good thing to do on this site: codify bits of info into a Transition Handbook for people wishing to power down. A cheerful manual, that reflects the hope that many on this board feel about the coming transition period. If anyone is interested in this, I can put up a special section specific to skills, info, how-to's, encouragement, that is meant to be read more like a book or handbook, not to be responded to like on the rest of the board (unless expanding on the topic further.)
